Does anyone know if there is a way to write out a layout tab (complete with title drawing sheet, viewport contents...and everything) to a standalone drawing....?????

Sadly I think you have to update to Autocad 2008 as installation requires that an Autocad 2008 is installed on the computer
I have tried the program on a drawing with autocad 2008 of a collegue and it works, eventhough it's not perfect (it'a an alpha release).

Well Alan, at least with a little pain you will have this interesting tool and all the new features of the 2008 version at your service....
No 2008 version for me in the next future

We have changed 3 copies 2004 to 2007 approximately in March, and then AutoDesk has sent 3 copies 2008 free of charge (to change 2007 to 2008 ). So we were promised by the local distributor.

I wonder if anybody on here has tried this yet ?
I've just downloaded it, but not yet installed as am wary of any software that is an alpha release.

If you are on subscription you should have got 2008 back in April......I just haven't loaded mine yet because I was warry of any problems that could arise......
But the bosses are on my back to sort out the problem from my 1st post above.....so it looks like I will have to load it before the week is out........

I have 2008 Alan, I was asking more about the layout thingy-me-bob.
As for 2008, it works like a dream (touch wood), and the annotation features are a CAD Manager's dream also. Loving that feature very much, but it does take a little setting up and getting used to.
I've also rationalised all my add-ons into one, easy to transfer, folder now too; so in the future, I can deploy this to the network and onto all machines that are using CAD.

As I told in the first post, I have installed and tried on a PC of a collegue. Installation just add a new command (EXPORTLAYOUT) and didn't notice any problem. The command have a problem to export some objects, but I've tried with a couple of layouts with 3D views, prospects and sections and it worked pretty well.

Cool, thanks for that.
I shall perhaps investigate it too then.

I have used this with great success. Be sure to read the "Read Me" file for the limitations.
This has worked out perfect for my needs.

Alan,
I'm not sure if this is exactly what you are looking for but have you tried to import the layout?
Start a new file. Right click on the layout tab and select From template.... Change the Files of type: box to *.dwg and browse to the file with the layout that you want. It doesn't work if you are XREFing your title block but it does give you a copy of everything else in paper space.

Thanks, RobDraw,
Time marches on, I have found out what I have done wrong, and I promise never to do that again. However, I do have 2008 loaded, but workload prevents me from finishing the setup at the moment. Such is life in a busy office. But I have to get into it soon, so I can get 2007 to home. In the meantime, thanks everyone for your contributions. :D
