Tlyall am I right in assuming that if I have run through your tips n tricks section to enable lights in a viewport and the item wasnt ticked, that I would have had my lights enabled  .What effect would this have made to my renders when trying to apply lighting?
Click here (http://www.icadsolutions.net/i-tips(6).htm) to see what I'm talking about.

Hey Hyp...
I really should add some additional info to that particular tip... Sorry it is so vague.
The tip you are referring to has no relationship with rendering. The rendering facility has its own global lighting system completely seperate from the ACAD global lighting.
The tip is strictly for viewports and plotting. Lets say you want to plot a color print of an object. With the lighting system off you have a flat shaded object. With the lighting system on you have a nice presentation... shadows and all! Also, if what you are trying to plot is taking forever to complete. In that same dialogue box turn off all the rendering options and it will drastically increase the file transfer times!
Hope this clarifies this for ya!
Take care...

Yeh and I shouldnt have mentioned rendering, think I'm confusing things to! :) What I meant is will it effect my lighting/shading?I didnt have much luck with lighting before ,as I used to add a light and then go to view its effect and either nothing would happen or it would just be a crap effect.Well heres me hoping it was that little tickbox that was causing me lighting problems

Most definitely Hyp... If you have this option disabled then no lights will work properly in viewports. I hope this helps and best of luck with it!

CAD really lacks in its lighting details with regards to vieports, unlike inventor and even MicroStation. There is a significant difference in CAD with the lights turned on in viewports, but it aint nothing to jump up and down about...
best of luck with it Hyp... and if ya discover something new in it, let me know
later....
