I'm looking at getting a new Dell system that will primarily be used for architectural drafting and mechanical design. Has anyone had any problems with the compatibility between ACAD Mechanical Desktop 2005 and MicroSoft Vista? What about Inventor 10 or 11?
Any recommendations on the new system?
Thanks,

I don't use Vista but I know people who use Inventor 11 on vista with no problems, and I know of no probs with Autocad, If there were any problems Autodesk would sure put out a hotfix.

There is no problem with Vista and AutoCAD 2008. There are problems with AutoCAD 2007 and LT 2007, however, AutoDesk has put out a service pack that addresses known issues. Start with this link for more information:

For questions about Vista and Inventor see this:

I'm afraid you will have troubles with AutoCAD 2005.
