Working a a structural design firm we have been using acad 2006, 2006lt and adt 2006. Now many of our clients are upgrading to 2008, and we are unable to open their drawings. From what I have been reading online 2006 is not compatible with 2007 or 2008.

Is there any way at all to open or export 2008 drawings into 2006? We don't need the aec objects to remain intact, we just need to see them, ie wall hatches.

We do have a version of 2007 lt that we can use to save down to 2004 then open in 2006, but this is not a practical solution for us

many thanks
joe

I usually use this (dwg true convert), but not sure if it will work for 08.

If not, I am sure someone on here knows.

Yes I have dwg trueconvert and dwg trueview, both will allow me to open converted 2008 files, but I the aec objects are just rectangles. We need to see wall hatches

Call up the arch firm that you are getting your drawings from and tell them to go to the "File" pull down menu and use the "Export to Autocad" and export their drawing to 2004 format. Since you are a consultant, you should get the drawings you need in the format that you need it. I do this all the time at my office for my consultants, sometimes I don't remember to export it back to their version, so they call me up and let me know. But it takes 60 seconds to do and another 60 seconds to email it.
