View Full Version : Stretchin attributes in Dynamic Blocks

is this at all possible ?
I have tried everything that I know how to, with very limited success (ie, none).
Everytime I try to stretch the attribute it comes up with "1 unlocked AttDef filtered from selection."
Any ideas people.
I'm using AutoCAD 2008.
Did I also mention, I want to stretch this attribute, along with other entities; then rotate these other entities, but NOT the attribute. I would also like the finished dynamic block to be annotative.
Do I dream for the impossible ?

rather than wait for a sensible answer from down under (don't hold your breath) can you post your block with a bit of a description. I'm not sure what you mean by stretching an attribte. Do you mean increase its width factor?

by "stretching attributes" do you mean "move them appart"? I read it differently first time.
I'll have a fiddle but I think you have to move them by the distance amount.

I mean, as i stretch the top arrow, the top attribute will move proportionately with the arrow.
or maybe there is another way of showing section lines, with as few clicks of the mouse as possible; preferably 2 would be great

OK, I understand now. :) (even us native Brits don't always understand each other) but I have the same problem as you with 1 unlocked attdef..... I had the same problem recently but can't remember if I lived with it or found a way round.

OK, Boss keeps looking over my shoulder so no time to really look at this but I think there is a bug in the dynamic block editor. I THINK if you create an attdef outside of the editor it gets locked. If you create it within, its OK. Open your block in the BEDITor and create new attdefs. Now apply your stretch or move to it and see if that helps. Please report back - this works here but I'd like to know if that is universal or just my machine.

the only workaround i have found so far is to draw a line (on a layer that is set to be non-printable) connecting the insertion points of the 2 attributes, then this can be made stretchable. then the placement of the attributes must be done manually AFTER all the stretching and rotating is done.
whew !

I tried this, and I am still getting the locked attdef error

I'll have another look in a while and post my results. I may be some time.

Right,
Boss has gone home and I'm about to too. Have a look at this. I have changed quite a few things! :)
Have a look and I'll explain further if required.

I've got an idea as to how you did it.

:) Good.
I still have no idea why some attdefs can be selected and others can't.
I used point parameters with "chain action" set and move them with the rotate & stretch parameters. There is then a move action associated with the point parameters to reposition the attributes. The other thing I did was the 2 stetch actions, one with a +1 multiplier, the other with a -1 multiplier.
