A few months ago I picked up a job at a fairly large design firm in my area. I have now been given the difficult task of implementing a standard for all drawings. What methods do you use for your standards at your firm? DWS files? Project Standards Synchronization? DWTs? Elaborate at great length if you feel like it. Searching for as many good ideas as I can.

Here's a good link that Mark posted awhile back for Layer Management. We follow the same rules at my company.

Here at the chemical company where I work we make the rules up as we go along. We are just now in the process of revising the standards for use in drawing process piping diagrams as a result of a new project (total rehab of an existing tank farm). We want to take advantage of the power of attributes. We use plain old AutoCAD here not any fancy P&ID software like AutoPlant or Coade.

^^ same with me. At the company I work at they didnt even have one. So I started one with an engineer. To me its always a work in progress, cuz everyday we find new things to add or revise.
Just think of from square 1, what needs to be done when creating a drawings. And then think of the steps after that.
Hope I was somewhat of a help
