How do I connect uneven profiles with a 3dmesh?

Hi

I am trying to make/connect a mesh with two different profile cross-sections. ie. a cavern

I used ruled surface it seems to work on one profiles but if I try to
connect the last mesh profile it says "Cannot mix closed and open paths."

Is there a proper procedure or tutorial to do this?

Anything would be greatly appreciated

Also have you used EDGESURF ? It is great for that sort of object.
