Problem creating DXF file

Hi all, I've just registered to CADTutor and thought someone may be able to help me solve this ongoing problem.I currently use Autocad 2008 but have the same problem with earlier versions.
I deal with files containing large amounts of 2d linework and some files containg large amounts of text (GIS purposes). Autocad will not create DXF files, basically just locks up the program.
If I WBlock the entire drawing Autocad has no problems creating a DXF from this resultant blocked drawing.
I would appreciate if someone could help me with this problem as it is very frustrating.

The only thing I could suggest at the moment would be to purge the drawing.....even try a repair on the drawing.......but if it is an ongoing problem.....I would have a close look at your template drawing, the problem could be there.....

Try to start the WBLOCK command and specify a dxf file as output -this should save you a few steps.
Also I noticed in the past that if you save the file in DXF format (with the SAVE AS command) and you use the DXFOUT command -you get different results.
