I am using Inventor to create a lot of large steel parts. The engineer for this project would like to do some analysis of these parts.

In particular, he would like to find the second moment of an area through a cross section of the part. I had to ask him to describe what, exactly, he was looking for. I knew at that point that I was well over my head.

Any thoughts from anyone? We are trying to determine minimum wall thickness of an object that will still retain its shape under high pressure.

If I can make a quick little macro, we could use the resulting data as design criteria for some of the parameters of the parts.

I have done an awful lot of VBA programming in AutoCAD, but I have not yet ventured into the programming of Inventor. Any tips and tricks that anyone could give would be an enormous help.

If you have IV Pro or IV ten that is built in, both the 2dn Moment and the defamation/pressure test.
