Step

I have a customer he wanted to send me a model the other day, he said "how do you want it ...STEP?" I said "yea that will do" he said "what STEP:AP203 or AP214" I said "you got me? any will do" anyway the model imported fine(INVENTOR).
I never got the chance to ask him what's the diff between them, is it a Solidworks thing?
