I''m trying to import a DXF into an exsisting drawing called 'titleblock'. The DXF uses ISO-25 Dim Style. Titleblock uses Standard.
When I copy/paste into Titleblock, the DXF comes in at 406.4 units (huge) . I need the 406.4 to come out as 16". How can I change or add a dimstyle to cause the DXF to import properly?

Here is what I've done to make it work, is there an easier (read automatic) way to do this?

Click Insert on the toolbar, choose DWG Reference, click the file and follow the prompts.
Does the Reference add the DXF to the drawing?
If I move the DXF file, will it break the link to the file (assuming that the way it works)?
Howcan I permanently add the DXF to the Titleblock dwg.

The DWG Reference creates an Xref. You'd need to copy/paste or something like it to bring it in not as an xref.
check your units settings ( insertion scale ) and maybe ucs??

Checked the insertion scale. Made no difference what it was set at.

After I made the XREF, I had to trace it with a polyline then erase the XREF. Am now able to manipulate it properly.

I think it's too many steps to get the job done.

Forgot to mention...........ACAD 2007 LT.:(

you should just be able to insert the DXF file directly into AutoCAD. Without resorting to a calculator it sound that the DXF was drawn in millimeters so you need to scale it down by 25.4:1 once in the drawing.

Tried that and it came out as 104.xx. Also tried multiplying by .3937. The only recourse was to do XREF and trace. I get a few like this a month so I'm looking for a permanent and easy solution.

Chulse stated something like check the UCS. I don't have a need to change my UCS, but I didn't check the DXF. Why would the UCS create a scaling problem?

You guys are a great help. I've looked over this forum quit a bit and have seen some great answers. Thanks.

You might want to take a look at the "insertion units" in the unit dialog box. This setting will affect the way blocks and drawings come in.
