I'm currently building myself a new PC and yesterday my new monitor was delivered. For the last 3 years, I've been using a 17" LCD which has been fine but as I'm doing more and more graphics work, I decided to go for the largest format monitor I could afford.

I got a BenQ FP241W 24". Native resolution is 1920x1200 with 1:1000 contrast and 500cd brightness. OK, those are the numbers but...

 WOW! is it good.

Image quality is fantastic, I'm seeing things I never saw before, all those graphic nuances are revealed. So, first impressions are very good. My only slight niggle is that the colours are a little muted for my taste but certainly nothing to worry about. I don't see any dead pixels.

This monitor has been around for less than a year but the price has dropped considerably since the launch. If you're looking for a bigger monitor, I thoroughly recommend this.

Well I'm certainly jealous. I'm still staring into a 21" CRT hoping and praying it up and dies any day now. With my luck it will still be kicking around 5 years from now (it's already 3 years old).

Well, I thought it was a bargain at this price (http://www.oyyy.co.uk/product.php?xProd=27723). Way cheaper than Dabs.

The last 3 years, the one thing I really missed was the subtelty of my old Iiyama 19" CRT. There's no doubt that the 1st generation of LCD monitors and recent cheaper ones are no where near as good as CRTs in terms of image quality. If you have space for your 21" CRT, I'd keep it for a little while longer.

This new BenQ is the first LCD I've used that approaches the quality of a really good CRT.

Thanks for this, CADTutor. I guess the old HP 21" CRT at home will hang around while longer now that I hear that.
