I've got a few questions...

Here's my current PC spec:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 LGA Conroe 2.40GHz
2GB RAM
BFG GeForce 7950 GT OC 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI
Gigabyte 965P-DS3P Motherboard

I have a worrying feeling that some problems with how models are displayed in Autocad are down to the (not old and far too expensive to keep buying new ones!) Graphics Card. Sometimes on large drawings when viewing in Conceptual it doesn't look right. I'm getting lots of lines, kinda like my baby nephew scribbled all over it.

Anyway....

Anyone got any tips on Graphics Cards?

And I'm also considering buying another monitor, just a small one where I can hopefully play tutorials on and then work in the other window. I'm wondering, am I gonna loose any speed having two monitors in one card? If I bought a new graphics card, could I keep the current one and then just add the new one (the MB will take 2), or do they have to be matching?

Also would I need to Overclock my PC or install another 2 GB of RAM to make my it faster? eg, for Rendering, and also being able to have 7 or more NURMBS iterations in 3DS MAX without it crashing!

The spec looks fine.

You have to bear in mind that most mainstream graphics cards are designed for games and not for professional apps. Although most will work just fine, there can be glitches such as the one you describe. All you can do is make sure you've got the latest drivers. If you want a reasonably priced professional card, I can recommend the Matrox P650. I've been using it for a couple of years now and never had a problem with AutoCAD etc. (Don't bother trying to play any current games though).

You won't lose any graphics speed with two monitors - it's the size of memory on the card that determines what you can run. And the card driver will determine what sort of dual monitor setup you can use.
