How to scale into layouts????

can anyone help me out here? i have a layout of this building which is divided into 3 sections. my boss wants me to make a different template for each one. i know how to create a new layout but how can i zoom in into the specific section so that in the new layout it zooms in only in that section? did i make myself clear or did i confuse anyone? help me out pleasee

You can draw a rectangle around the section you want to zoom in on and zoom>window in the viewport.

after i do the rectangle then i go to the layout and type in zoom>window in the vp?

And you need to select the rectangle you drew around the section for your window. You also need to double click to make the viewport active.

sorry for the hassle but what do i have to clikc twice to activate vp?

No hassle...Double-click inside the viewport somewhere to make it active.

it still zooms in evrything ok take a look.
step 1. rectangles in model
step 2 go to layout
step 3 double clikc to activate layout
step 4 mv the whole drawing
step 5 zoom>window an then select the rectangle

but then after i zoom in it zooms in into that section but the rest of the drawing aswell.

If the different sections of the building are on individual layers, you can freeze the unwanted layers in in each viewport.

So what portion do you want in the window?

i want each floor on a different template. but i want it all zoomed in you get me? i want floor 1 to be by itself without floor 2 and same as floor 2 i want it without floor 1 but zoomed in

Select the layout tab and insert your title block, create a viewport if one is not already there. Double-click inside the viewport. Use zoom>window select the area to be zoomed in (say the 1st floor).

If you know what scale you want it at, you can double-click in the window and use Zoom>Scale and type in your scale factor Such as XP2 for a scale that is 2 times the model space scale.
