View Full Version : Modifying door types in ADT 2005

I'm finally becoming semi-productive in ACAD, and only making major mistakes half the time, so I'm trying to teach myself to use Architectural Desktop. I've drawn all the walls for a plan of one of our existing offices, and put windows and doors into it. Unfortunately, there are some interior sliding doors in closets, and the only sliding door on the tool pallette is an exterior sliding glass door.
Do I have to load (or download) a new door type from somewhere else (like I have to do with linetypes in ACAD), or do I have to copy the exterior sliding glass door and modify it? The ACAD Help files are more confusing than helpful, and I couldn't find a tutorial on this.

This is for ADT 2004, but I guess it really can't be that different...
format... style manager.... file... open dwg..."defaults to the styles directories" if not it can be found in your documents and settings arch desktop ENU folder...
Browse through the imperial and metric styles. when you see a style you like, grab it in the left pane and drag and drop it right onto your door pallette or create your own pallette and add it to it.
HTH... gimme a shout if not an i'll list the step by steps.

This is how I add them in ADT-2005:
Click on "Content Browser (Ctrl+4)"
Double Click on Design Tool Catalog
Open Doors and Windows
Open Doors
and hopefully it should be in there.
I have about 5 pages of doors in mine.

tlyall's method might work too but here is just another way perhaps.

ADT 2004 has the same i-drop content browser, but I prefer using style-manager. It gives a better view of the style in question, it allows you to quickly edit the style to conform to your needs, it can be e-mailed directly from within CAD. Overall I would much rather use style-manager, but hey, personal preference is the key I guess.
