View Full Version : Slow zooming

Hello, all,

I'm using Land Desktop 2007, recently upgraded to a new computer, but still having some problems with delays: on specialized land desktop commands (as posted previously--not many survey drafters here?) but also on basic things like zooming while in modelspace in a layout tab. Strangely, selecting an object before zooming/panning often (but not always) speeds the process considerably.

This is exactly the type of problem that the upgrade was supposed to fix! Any ideas as to what could be causing it?

Thank you!

Hi,

not having seen your previous posts, have you looked at the settings for View Transitions? VTOPTIONS. Try turning smooth zoom/pan off and/or tweeking the value of VTDURATION. The variable are: VTDURATION, VTENABLE and VTFPS

I'm more confused than ever. Thank you for your help, Petri, but playing with those variables doesn't seem to make any difference at all. My boss is starting to joke about reformatting my hard drive (i.e., my brain)!

Are there any other settings that could be causing this strage behaviour? (Playing around with it, I've discovered that the "grabbing onto something" trick only works with the properties palette on--but doesn't that usually slow the system?).

Thank you for all your help--I do appreciate the effort!

What are the specs for your new computer and graphics card?

Also, what pointingdevice are you using? There's been some problems in 2007 and 2008 using the Logitech 3DConnexion Space Navigator in 2D

Type in _VIEWRES and select fast zooming and reduce the number some to see if that helps.

Ummmm, the guy from tech support just showed up with it out of the blue on Monday...

Looks like a dual-core AMD Opteron @ 2.60GHz, 3.50GB RAM, I think it's an NVIDIA quadro FX 3500 graphics card. I can tell that this computer is faster overall than the (actually pretty good) laptop I was working on earlier, except for these little quirks inside AutoCAD.

Thank you again!
