I'm using Autodesk Architectural Desktop 2006. I want to have a balcony cut into the slope of a roof, but don't know how to cut this out.

I tried simply extruding a 3-D shape of the cutout with the idea of subtracting it, guess the roof object in ADT isn't recognized as a solid.

Can this be done with a continuous roof (slab?), or do I have to create multiple roof areas and try to line them up.:?

Thanks!

Also, if anybody knows of any good books/tutorials specific to ADT, and with a starving students budget in mind, please feel free to state them here too!

There is a new book that came out on monday. I have mine ordered, took a look at the 2006 ACA book of the same name and it looks good.

Mastering AutoCAD Architecture 2008 its 53.56 if ordered online from barnes and noble

In the meantime, I just converted the roof object to slabs and adjusted them around a bit. Seems the easiest/fastest way for the moment; wasn't as big of a pain as I was afraid it might have been.

Don“t they teach descriptive geometry in the U.S.? Just out of curiosity. I started studying architecture in the U.S. but got sick of the whole general credits thing and did my studies in Spain.
