Yup... but only really played with it so far... we've started a project using 2007 ABS & the powers that be are cautious about changing halfway through... a shame 'cos there are a few useful features in MEP.

I now have MEP and boy is it awesome. still VERY early stages in learning tho, but already it's made some huge contributions to the rest of the staff. ;-)

just checked this MEP out and it looks the biz. Anyone know what you'd be expecting to pay for it?

Not sure what the going rate is but we got a good deal 'cos of the number of licences we were buying... well worth some negotiation. Had some training from www.e-cadassist.com (http://www.e-cadassist.com) but in the main we're just picking it up... most of us have used a 3d package of some sort & it's not that hard to get into... a real pain to set up tho' & it's by no means perfect. Other branches of our company have gone down the CADDuct route... a bit of a fractured approach that I don't quite understand.

Of course it's illegal,
You can download the full demo version from www.autodesk.com (http://www.autodesk.com) tho. And i've had no training, however I just printed out the 200+ page "getting started" help file, each chapter is extremely helpful and has done wonders when i've had the time to sit back and read through it all. You can get all this through the demo as well. :)

I never heard of MEP or ever considered using it.
I just know as long as the architects or my department head continues to give me work in CAD, I will continue to have a job.
I mostly deal with putting in holes in walls so people can plug their toasters in, and lights on ceilings so people can see where they plug their toaster in, and phone lines so people can call other people.

what i saw in autodesk website is just aversion of CAD that would make our work efficient and some companies are now buying it coz there are a lot number of companies that are purely MEP (no architects).

MEP is a great program for BIM related projects. Alot more architects are demanding Engineers to switch over to BIM programs. MEP is the most subtle program to make the switch. Unfortanatley most architects are using Revit which is alot better than MEP in my opinion.
