First, I would recommend visiting the Autodesk website and printing the system requirements for the software you plan to use. They usually provide at least a "minimum requirement" and sometimes a "recommended" configuration.
I have always been happy with Dell, but don't know if they will fit within your budget. Do an online search and you might find something that will, but look carefully at the components they are using.
The "600 budget"...is that $600???

there are probably some threads on here for computer specs....try the search utility. I usually use the Autodesk "minimum" requirements as a starting point....my budget usually determines where I go from there.
no problem.....just did not know where you were from and what kind of budget that was.

i got a decent base unit for under £200 that runs cad no problem.
downside was that there was no monitor, and ram needs upgrading.
decent sized monitor should cost no more than £200, and ram upgrade should be well under £100

Remember that the minimum reccomended specs just mean that the software will work. Does not mean that it will work quickly, or well. The reccomended specs should be what you are basing your upgrade on, due to that speed being able to use the full capabilities of the program with little to no slowing or problems.

wow, $600 won't go very far towards a computer that will do those type of applications. granted, you'll be able to run them, but I personally would be pulling my hair out on the performance bottleneck... lol

that would be roughly 1205.06 usd
you can get a pretty nice system for that. My brand new system (built it myself) cost me around 950.00 not including monitors, mouse, keyboard and hard drive. (used the ones i had in my last machine)

got all my stuff at www.tigerdirect.com (http://www.tigerdirect.com), you just need to know where the huge price drop between "state of the art" and just below that is. :)

As a person that used to home build all of my older machine I simply cannot match people like Dell with component prices. It cannot be done or I can't.
Dell Inspiron 531: $629
Athlon X2 3800
Vista Home Premium
19" LCD
1 gb DD2 ram 667mhz
120 bd HHD
16 DVD -R/W
A system put together from DigerTirect with almost same specs comes to: $719.93
Both without shipping and a one year warranty from dell.
