Dear All,
Whenever I copy link a drawing(Edit-copy link) and paste in MSWORD document, the final print quality of the drawing in the document is very light (faint). Only the texts in the drawing come dark like the normal word texts in the documents. But the drawing lines etc. are extremely faint.
Even if I increase the lineweight to 5 the darkness does not increase.
I don't want to copy the drawing into the document as a picture also because it seems as if it has been scanned from existing drawing not originally self drawn.
Anybody to help me how to increase the darkness ?
Regards

i don't understand why you are putting a dwg inside of a word doc... what is it for? why can't you print the drawing and attach it to whatever you are typing as a reference?

Try plotting the drawing as JPG and then insert the jpg into Word

he said he didn't want to do that, but i agree with you zars, this will be his best option.

another reason for linking would be to ensure the document stays up to date with the drawing revisions
bookmarking for FAQ as it's a common problem which always gets lots of answers people haven't thought of as options

Best thing to do is use the WMFOUT command. This will export the AutoCAD file as a Windows Metafile, which is a *.WMF file extension. All Microsoft products can read/import this file, and it's vectorized so it will retain perfect quality, and even will hold PLINE widths. Hope this helps. :)

Try using Print Screen after getting the portion of the drawing you want on the screen. Open paint and paste the screen shot then crop the portion you want. Right-click in the cropped area and select "Cut". Close and reopen Paint without saving. In Paint, paste the cropped area and save as. Open Word, then insert the drawing you just saved.

see below. I also agree with this suggestion.

Would using polylines with their own width come in better than standard lines with a line weight setting?

a Lineweight setting would only benefit a plot that used a CTB file.

Hi,
Thanks all for response.
I need to put the drawing inside the WORD document as a research manuscript to a Journal. This is infact a schematic drawing of my set up. Last time they complained aboout the faintness. In screen it looks good. While printing the drawing becomes faint.
I cannot ask the publishers to try printscreen !
Along with the whole textual matter the drawing should look good.
I would like to request StykFaCE to elaborate the method of WMFOUT command.

I got the impression you were doing this yourself.
If it is only faint when printed, it may be the printer settings.
Have you tried a simple Copy/Paste?

The text matter in the document, the text matter in the drawing are O.K.
Only the line and hatch etc. in the drawing become faint.

Same effect for simple Copy/Paste.
I use copy/(copy link )as it gives me an option of edit AutoCAD object in WORD.
Printer is O.K.
The simple text matter in the document and the text matter inside drawing are O.K. in print.
Only the line and hatch etc. in the drawing become faint.

type WMFOUT at the command line, then select your save location, then select all the objects. after you save it, import it into Word. simple as that. ;-)
