Hello All,
I'm running AutoCAD 2002, and have come across an annoyance that I thought maybe someone might knowhow to correct this.

When I select "File" ->"Save As" the dialog box opens just like it should.

The "Save Drawing As" userform opens just like it should, but the folders and files listed are no longer in alphabetically order.??

Up until today they have always been displayed in alphabetical order. Now they are in some other/random order.

Has anyone every seen this before? Is there a fix to this besides the obvious remove/reinstall AutoCAD?

i believe that is a windows setting, not CAD.
i do not know how to correct it, however.

Check your MAXSORT setting. The default is 1000 but you may need to increase it.

this could not be a CAD issue:

in the picture above, the yellow box, where is says "name"... this is your file name, if you click on this tab, it will arrange the drawings in alphabetical order, just a simple windows function...

do not uninstall and then reinstall cad b/c of this.

if it is a windows setting then why do all other programs on my machine list the folders and files in alphabetical order?

adobe acrobat, microsoft word, excel, notepad, windows media player, outlook, visual basic studio, dev c++, sharpdevelop, etc...all list the files in alphabetic order when the save as dialog is invoked.

only autocad is out of order.

Just for the record...

As I understand it, if the folder containing all your CAD folders wasn't displaying things in alphabetical order, it wouldn't affect any other folders. Each folder has its own settings for things like appearance, view type and sorting.

If you browsed to the folder you've been having problems with in other software, my guess is that you would have seen them in the same non-alphabetical order.

Crisis averted now though - :)
