Firstly let me say hello.

Hello!

Now to my problem...
I am currently trying to insert a large amount of text (three A1 pages in fact) from Microsoft Word (2000 and/or 2003) into AutoCAD 2006. I wish to do so as an OLE object.

In Word, the text is divided into four even columns, however when I insert it into AutoCAD, I am only getting two and a half columns, and it is also cropped halfway down the page. I have tried everything under the sun, as have some of my co-workers but to no avail.

If someone here has any ideas at all, and one of those ideas come to work, you will forever be looked up to as a God from all here in the office...

Thanks again guys and gals!

Can you post a small portion of the doc?
Have you tried both
Edit / Paste Special
and
Insert / (OLE?) Object / From file?

If you just want text, you can save them as a text file and import them that way.

Raggi_Thor
I have tried both ways, but to no avail.
I can post the whole thing if you would like. What do you want, the file or the text itself in a post?

I have also tried doing it this way.

Thanks heaps guys.

The word doc would be interesting,
and maybe an explanation how it should look in acad?

Raggi,
Is there any chance of getting your e-mail address so that I can e-mail you the files?
Thanks again,
Luke

Hmm. I am looking at this now.
It works a little better in Acad 2008 than in 2005.
It seems like the columns are the problem.
If every thing was one large table with four columns it would be easier.
I'll test some different methods.

Thanks very much Raggi.
It is much appreciated.

Well I did try for some minutes...
The only ways I could get it look OK in acad was
1) Paste it several times, one column at a time.
2) Make a table in Word with four columns and then paste it.
3) Paste as acad objects, looks almost OK, but you have lots of text objects.
4) Convert to Excel and try to use the Table object in acad.

One thing I didn't try was print to DWF from Word (free dwf printer from autodesk) and then attach as DwfOverlay in acad.

I am sure there is a way, but I didn't find it today.

Thanks heaps for your assitance Raggi_Thor. I will investigate further and see what I can come up with. It is very frustrating when this is supposed to be the standard procedure for inserting Structural Notes, yet no one within the organisation can show us how it is supposed to be done. Surely someone knows?
That is the corporate world I guess.

Thanks again!

Problem solved!

It ended up being a clashing between Microsoft Word 2000 and 2003, I uninstalled 2003 and have had no problems since.

Thanks everyone for you help!
