Help! I am trying to model a curved staircase in AutoCAD 2004 . When I extrude the profile of the handrail to follow my path ( a complex set of curves with different center points and radii) the profile is not rotated. I am looking for a solution to keep the profile perpendicular to the path as it is swept along. I have made the path using a 3d polyline with short segments. Thanks for the ideas and suggestions.

Do you mean that you have drawn the profile perpendicular to the path but that it is rotated when it is extruded?

This link (http://cadtutor.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1463) may be of help.

Yes, If you were to run your hand along this hand rail, it would be correctly positioned at the bottom of the stairs. The rail would then slowly twist approx. 90 degrees so that the side of the rail is facing vertical by the time you reach the top tread.

Thanks for the interest and any suggestions.
