Hi All

This is my first time on this forum & Im hoping that someone can help me out. I have received from a customer a DXF file for us to use on our CNC Punch Press to produce a part eliptical shape. When I put the DXF into the CNC punch programmer it shows all of the holes & straight lines that were originally drawn but the part ellipse is not showing. Is there anything that we can do so that we can see the part elipse as well as we cant programme the component without it.

Thanks

Robert

Just a guess here...
I'm guessing that your CNC machine doesn't recognize the Autocad entities ellipses. If you have access to full Acad try using the Express tools' Flatten command to "explode" the ellipses to polylines, then if need be, Explode the polylines into arcs. Or ask your customer to do it.
If you post the .dxf file here, I (or someone else) could try for you.

Export it as a ver R12 dxf then re-import ?

Thanks for your replies guys.... Ipseifert I have forwarded your post to my customer to see if he can do what you have said as it is a lil over my head. Nick your suggestion did work ... the ellipse appeared on my CNC Programmer but for some reason I could not get the punch to appear to nibble the ellipse. Could it be that the ellipse needs to be broken down into separate arcs ? which could be what Ipseifert is saying. Yo must forgive my ignorance I am relitively new at AutoCad so still have much to learn.

Just to let you know Mr T. Your suggestion worked. I was unable to put the punches round the profile a I used the wrong command in the programming system.
