Hi all. Was wondering if this was possible?

I am using sketchup as a loadplanning tool. Basically I have drawn the inside of various cargo aircraft, then made them components, then I can drag and position different shaped components to discover the most efficient way to load the aircraft.

Now this works but the setup is a litle time consuming.
Was wondering if there was someway I could import the basic shapes (everything can be treated as cuboid) from the dimensions in cm into the component library from a list (say in excel or something) without physically having to draw them?

When there are 200 of them and they are all different sizes it just takes too long.

cheers
Nobby

I don't believe this can be done.

You can type in the length and width in the VCB while using the rectangle tool. Then push/pull it to the correct height.

Hope this helps some.

There is a programming language that allows "add on's" for SketchUp called Ruby. There are no Ruby scripts currently written for what you want however Todd Burch at Smustard (a Ruby script site) says that a Ruby can be written to do exactly what you want. Here is the contact page if you want to drop him a line.

If you have more SketchUp questions you can also post them here: http://www.sketchucation.com/scf/
It is a very useful site.
