I draw small jigs & fixtures for my ship modeling, & sometimes the parts are pretty small. What should be the procedure for scaling UP to say 4:1 & still have the dimensions at a reasonable size for plotting & of course to their real dims. ? Incidentally I tried various terms in the FAQ's & nothing came up. Thanks for any advice.

Keith.

perhaps try a 'search' from the bar across the top of the screen here - so it looks across all boards, not just FAQ (which doesn't have many of the best threads in there  )

there are a couple of threads that look relevant at the bottom of this screen too

if that doesn't help, get back to us and I'll see if we've covered this in the FAQ database which is still WIP at the moment :)

Thanks Strix. Going to read the relevant threads & play around with a trial drawing. Will get back to you if they don't work. Just woke up, brain not in gear!

Hi Strix,
All of the threads were very helpfull, in fact quite a few members seem to have the same problem grasping it. Well, I don't know if it is the best way of doing it, but I made a trial drawing of a .05 x .025 rectangle (model space), scaled it to 10x, then created a new dimension style with the scale of 0.1 (one of the threads mentioned this)& dimensioned the rectangle. It works. DUH! I should have looked at DIM style before asking, but anyway, thanks for pointing me to the SEARCH button at the top of the screen, rather than FAQ's. Will use that in future.
Best regards, Keith.

The FAQ forum isn't really as much help as it could be - hence the current project to build a FAQ database. We're hoping to go live with that in the next couple of weeks, but until then, we're stuck with using 'search'
