Has anyone come across, or know what a map file is?

One of our Engineers wants to import a subdivision layout into EPA Net software (something to do with Water Reticulation analysis). He said that the software won't accept dxf files or anything like that, only a "map" file, or coord input for every point.

So I'm trying to find out what the format is for a map file, I may be able to make one up for him, just to save him a lot of time.

Thanks all.

You buggar, chulse.

Here I was suddenly all excited. Now I am real depressed. Well not really, I'll just go to the Engineer in the morning and tell him to get better software, and consult me first.

I don't know if this work or not Alan, but you may find it useful:

Thank you very much, Blue. I shall pass that on tomorrow morning. If the Engineer can't make sense of it, then he can go jump. It looks okay to me.

He is the one who kept telling me not to spend so much time on here. Payback time.

Possibly yep. However that link is not overly useful as it does not contain any information as to how to create the .map file, or indeed what software to use, etc.

Yep sorry just picked one but run google on ".map file ext" and you'll get loads of hits. I just didn't have time to go wading through them all sorry!

It's fine, no worries chief.

We're all here to help each other :)

BTW Alan, how did you get on with this issue ?

Gave it to the engineer this morning, haven't heard back since, so he must have sorted it out. But don't worry, if he runs into problems, I'll be the first to know.

I told him I got the onfo from the forum, and told him that is why we spend so much time on it, to help each other out. He seemed to accept that (finally).
