how do i add colours(other than the given 255 shades) to hatched objects in Autocad

Well, the short answer is that you can't, not with AutoCAD alone. However, there are some add-ons that might help. For example, if you have the AutoCAD Express tools, you can use the "Super Hatch" command to use true colour image tiles as your hatch. See http://www.cadtutor.net/acad/acad2k/map/map.html#Super for details. There is also the M-Color add-on http://www.motivesys.com/.
I must admit that with every new version of AutoCAD, the expectation is that the 255 colour limit will be broken but so far it just hasn't happened.

Depends on what you want. If you need to print out a specific RGB color you can set this in you plot style table. In you plot dialog box, select your plot style and then select edit. Pick the pen you want to print to a specific color and then go to the properties area and select "true color" in the color area and then select the color you need. You can set the RGB as well as the Hue, Sat. and Val. Not the best answer but it works in a pinch. Good luck.

Locate or create a BITMAP file of your choice and then load that as the patern/color.
