OK these PDF drivers are gonna drive me nuts!

I'm working on migrating our office to AA2008. & we need to be able to create PDF files from time to time. Previously we used Acrobat's print to PDF system driver to create PDF's. however, to get it to behave properly we neeted to create separate print setups for each page size & orientation to get consistant results.

now in 2008 I see that there is an inbuilt print to PDF printer so i tried to set that up.

The good - all the sheet sizes are there (no custom page size needed for D/E drawings)

The bad - the quality is realy poor (TT fonts ged muddy to the point of illegibility)

The UGLY - it's shifting the page about 3" somewhere between preview & the plot. the drawing will preview fine but when you open the PDF everything's shifted & parts are getting clipped. I saw something like this using Adobe's drivers where it would preview landscape then print a landscape image on a portrait page.

I have never had these kind of problems working with a PHYSICAL printer or plotter. is there a better solution out there?!?!

You might have better luck with CutePDF (www.cutepdf.com (http://www.cutepdf.com)). There is a free version as well as a professional version ($49.95 US).

I'm very happy with Win2Pdf, www.win2pdf.com (http://www.win2pdf.com)
Quality is good.
The only thing I don't like is that this driver remembers th folder I put the pdf in. I would prefer the same folder as the dwg as a default.

you're lucky - we had a thread on that last week from somebody with an HP 1200 series

I think you need to work with the margins and plot quality if you want to use the AutoCAD supplied PDF plotter.

I use pdfcreator, free source on the internet, which works quite well.
