When I try to open up a file, the window does not come up. In order to open up a file I have to type in the file name in the command line. Is there any way to change this so that I do not have to do this?

RKM already posted the answer, but it would have been good of you to post it yourself, even if you did figure it out on your own.

yeah - just so you know, this isn't the sort of forum where we have a bunch of experts sitting waiting for newbies to post questions and we all come running (though I know some are), this is the kind of forum that works by all the members sharing their knowledge and treating threads as valuable pieces of information for future users

Welcome to CADTutor :) we're a friendy bunch who regularly help each other out - sometimes saving each other's companies a fortune in consultancy fees  and all striving to gain further CAD knowledge by sharing our info :)
