We have ADT 05 & 08
We moved a lot of Drawing files to an Archive Drive.
When you open from there the xref's are not loading.???
How can you get all the x-ref's to re-load without going thru
the re-attach for all.????

Is the archive drive separate from the drive that the xrefs are on? They should still find the xrefs because your not chaning the location of the xref. Correct?
You will need to bring the xrefs with them onto the same drive. The easiest would be to keep them in the same folder.

Or change you search path in options..

start attaching all your XREF's as a Relative Path and not a Full Path. This will solve the problem you're having, especially if the XREF's aren't a Global XREF and are only associated with the host file(s) of the current drawing. for now you will have to manually change the search paths, unless someone else knows a quicker way of doing this. 8)

Try changing your "project files search path" under
Options dialog box> Files tab

Search in the Help menu for the System Variable PROJECTNAME

This could help

If they are for archiving, bind the drawings, because lets say for instance, someone for whatever reason decides to change an x-ref, that changes your archived drawing. If you bind them, it also eliminates alot of clutter, in your file system.

Just a thought

hmmm, extremely good point. that way nothing ever gets lost as well. everything in one file, much easier. :)

This program came with AutoCAD 2008, not sure if it's there in 2005, but we used some third party programs earlier, maybe this one, Xrepath, www.intelcad.com/pages/xrepath/ (http://www.intelcad.com/pages/xrepath/)
It worked OK, but not with Norwegian characters, ÆØÅ æøå.
