So I am trying to design a product that will be used for all ford, chevy, and dodge trucks. Does anyone know if it is at all possible to obtain the CAD file contains the exact fender, door, hood, ect. I need the body of all of the trucks made from those companies. does anyone know where i could find this?

Are you looking for 3d models or technical drawings? Either one is going to be in short supply I'm afraid.

Not sure you will find that sort of stuff on the net, have you looked on turbo squid they have lots of models, but most are not free.

I'm looking for something that will be enough so i can just send them to a machinist and have him punch them out for me. I am new to the CAD world and really have a lot to learn so I'm sorry if I sound like a moron with my lamens terms. lol

Sorry to burst the bubble but nope your not going to find cad drawings already drawn out for you to send send to the machine shop, I would suggest you take up a course in Autocad, 12 weeks at 2 hours a week should do it, just to start you on your way.

I know these files exist... how could all of the shops that make replacement fenders for all years of trucks drawn each and every truck by scratch?? That would never work.

Hmmm.. Wonder what companies that produce repo body parts pay for schematics like that, I bet it's a bunch... Everyone's gotta get paid...

I do not believe you will get anything like that for free. Try contacting the OEMs and see if you can purchase something from them.

I bet they are expensive... I'll try contacting some OEM people and let you guys know the verdict. Thank you.

Sorry but you will have a hard time getting this infomation. I work for a company that build the conveyors and presses for Toyota, Mercedes, Honda, Ford... these are used to manufacture the parts you are looking for. We have to sign paper after paper to get a copy of these parts in cad format. Most of them are drawn in Catia so unless you have a copy laying around they would be useless.

Sorry,
Brian

Who do you work for? I am in the same line of work.

Most of the drawings we get don't show the fender mounting holes any way .

I dont even need teh fender mounting holes... all i need is the outer shell of the truck. So anything that isn't on the surface i'll have to edit out. But since you are in the OEM business would you be able give me a person I can contact possibly your supervisor or plant manager someone who had to get teh files in order for his shop to be capable of producing such OEM parts.

Daifuku America. Most of our work is conveyor design, fabrication and installation but we do presses for the companies direct from time to time.

I just spoke with our purchasing department about contact information and they will not even tell me. I guess it's a secret?! Sorry.

Thanks,
Brian

I had a feeling you were with Daifuku. I am with Allied Uniking. I worked for NKC a long time ago.

No can do. Not allowed.

As I stated earlier, you will have to contact the Manufacturers directly. You could try contacting some after market companies to see where they get their info from.
