What is a CTB file?

could someone explain to me what a .ctb file is and how it works. i know this is probably an easy question to most, but i don't exactly know what it does thanks

The CTB file is just a table telling to AutoCAD how to plot your drawings. It establishes a correspondence between the colors in your drawing and the line-width on the hard-copy .
