Hello everyone!! I bought a new PC for my work with the new OS VISTA (BAD CHOISE), After 3 to hours of installations of my software, I found that that half of them are not compatible with this wouderfull not "OS VISTA". in particular my autocads software, autocad electrical 2006, and arquitectural desktop 2005. I am frustated because I had spend the las tree days looking for any help to fix this problem without any help!! I guess, I will re-format my HD and install windows XP professional which that's the one I was using in my other CP.
If anyone knows anything about fixing these compatible issues with autocad, I will be greatly appreciatted.

Have you tried to install the programs and run them using the compatibility option that should be avaiable in Vista as it was in XP?

Thanks for the reply SLW210, I did search the forum for any solution on this issue without any luck!
It seem some people have problems with vista in the plotting and setting area, my problem is that it does not even initilize autocad, just error message and then send me to the autodesk help web site which I search for any hotfix update but no luck.

Well, if you have already all installed and the install procedure didn't produce any error message I would try first this one:
on your desktop right click with the mouse on the program icon (i.e. ACAD Eletctrical) and from the shortcut menu choose properties
On properties window go to the compatibilty tab and there you should see a check box labeled "run program in compatibility mode" (or something like this because my OS is in Italian and I'm just trying to guess the english translation)
There you can choose to run the program in compatibility mode with OS Windows XP.
I don't have Vista and so this is how it worked on XP. I hope that they didn't change it. Let me know if it works or I have to get some more infos from Vista owners

Why not just put in another HD so you have both XP and Vista, have autocad on XP and use Vista a bonus , just change the boot seq to what ever operating system you wish to use.

Riga is on the right course. I have installed 2007 on my boss's Vista laptop. You will have to run in XP compatibility mode with administrative rights enabled. Right click on the Acad icon and then choose the compatibility tab and you should find it from there. It works fine with no errors or pop-ups

So what you are all saying is......there is still a problem with vista and acad. My boss has been talking about going to vista, and I have told him to hang off for a while. Old saying, it aint broke, don't fix it.

2008 shouldn't have a problem Alan... & I'm running 2007 on my laptop Vista & haven't experienced any probs either (though I'm not plotting through it).

From some of the threads on plotter problems with Vista, it seems it is more of a problem with older plotters, because there are no updated drivers available. The company I work for is not planning on going to Vista anytime soon, though I may try upgrading at home. Only problem being that I run AutoCAD 2000i at home, so that would force an upgrade at home on the CAD.

AGM, is your company on auto upgrade? What is that called? Can't remember, but, as the new upgrade comes in, take the old license home. That way you are only 1 version behind the office version. o:)
Yeah, subscription.

There is a patch/fix for 08. This is only needed for 07 and below IIRC.

Not sure about that. I plan on purchasing my own anyway if I can, thinking about getting a vertical or maybe Inventor.
