oh guys I'm stuck.
We mainly deal with 2D drawings and we've just had some 3D drawings through that I've got to strip down and send on ready for updates from another company.
Now apparently they're ment to already be converted to 2D but one of them isn't. When I go into the model space on any of them there's three viewports and when I click to join the viewports the file size goes from 4mg to 13mg. Why is this? I need to reduce file size so that they can now work on them.
Any ideas?

Have you tried the FLATTEN or OVERKILL commands? I would make sure that all the layers are on then run OVERKILL, then purge and see what happens.

Skeeps, get onto your boss and say "if I have to deal with these sort of drawing files, then I need Vanilla 2008".

yeah i know mate. I'm in negotiation with them at the moment. But the other CAD guy said. 'well you can be damned if you think that I'm learning yet another version of Autocad when I'm due to retire next year.'

Groan! Trust him to throw a spanner in the works!

Well, mate, if he wants to be like that, then also tell your boss that you will need the latest and greatest computer to run 2008. That way you wont have to share anymore, and he can go jump. o:) :P

Well he can stay on LT then. Pretty easy to jump from LT to full. Is he related to the buy that can do wastewater drawings on MS Paint???

Here's 2 macros that can be used on LT to bring the Z coordinates to 0.
Does not works on solids.

Oops, I should have read more carefully the first post. I guess it doesn't help much on this case

First you need to make the screen to one viewport.
(Or maybe you can delete the objects in the side views that are not part of the plan drawing? You can try to delete some and undo if it's not correct.)
Click inside the main vport, with a plan view.
Use the command VPORTS and select Single.

Then maybe you want to just delete some 3D objects?
Try QSELECT to selct 3D Solids for example?
