In my experience bitmaps are temperamental at the best of times.

But I have a scanned image which I must put onto a drawing. I have pasted it from the clipboard, pasted it using PASTESPEC as a bitmap, both embedded and not, and have inserted it as a block.

From any of these alternatives all I cannot get it to print. It will display in a PLOT PREVIEW, but then will be blank in the printout.

Does anyone have any experience putting images on drawings? Did anything work for you?

Try Insert, Raster Image, Plot, and plot preview to make sure you can see if it will print.

Right, I'd forgotten about raster images.

Can't seem to find them on AutoCAD light though. I know they used to be on release 14...

If it's not in the INSERT drop down, do you know where it is?

To insert raster image in Autocad LT you need a work around trick.
You will not able to do it directly, but you need to download a template created with the full version which already contains a raster image inserted and then editing the path replace it with your image

I find that JPGs usually work OK as scanned images, when brought into an AutoCAD drawing with the IMAGE command. If you've got a choice, this might be helpful as an alternative.

It isn't a matter of image format but the way to insert it in Autocad LT
I think there isn't a IMAGE command in LT versions
