View Full Version : Plotting shaded viewports

I'm using LDD 2005 or AutoCAD 2005.

I have a drawing with 2 viewports. One is a 2d profile, the other is a Gouraud shaded isometric. When I plot it, they both show up shaded. While in model space the plotter dialog box shows "Shaded Viewport Options" as "As Displayed", but in paper space, it's "Hidden".

How can I change this?

go into modelspace set to 2d wireframe
go back to paperspace click into viewport to be shaded use either toolbar icon for gourard shaded
or use pulldown menu view>shaded> gourard

Thanks, but it didn't work before, either. (I tried it again just now.) The option in paperspace is greyed out and reads "Hidden", no matter how I set it in model space.

are you entering the modelspace viewport?
I just did that and the shade command is not greyed out
and I could shade in one viewport and leave the other 2d

Yup, I go into the viewport, >ctrl< P and the dialog box is greyed out. It does so om your drawing also, but says "Varies" instead of "Hidden".

It's not a huge deal, but kind of annoying. Some kind of sysvar, maybe? or setup option I couldn't find?

Thanks.

ok we'll beat this one to death...
I'm setting the shading not in the plot dialog box
but in the main pulldown menu under view>shade>gourard
same for other one view>shade>2d wireframe
can also use the shade toolbar.

ok tried to plot and didn't get shade in viewport
try before plotting
go into MVIEW>SHADEPLOT>AS DISPLAYED select shaded viewport

Tried that first, but it didn't work. The problem seems to be the greyed out option in the layout. Doesn't seem to matter what the model space option says, the layout plot dialog box is always greyed and reads "Hidden".

I seem to remember something like this in school and it turned out to be an option/setup somewhere my instructor wasn't expecting.

Whoa! From the command line, it worked! At least, the lot preview does.

WAHoo! :D

Yup, plot worked as advertized, but now the "shaded Viewport" box is still greyed, but says "Varies", just like yours.

So the question becomes, Why?

upon further looking
the shadeplot in the plotting dialog box only works when in modelspace
can't be changed in paperspace or ps viewport

mview controls the shading in viewports when plotting

when you tried to plot in my dwg you were in the model space viewport and the viewport hadn't been set through mview, so even though it looked shaded it wouldn't plot that way until set in mview

I find if you plot gourard with edges on or flat shaded with edges on its easier to see the form of the solid
