Hi,

I am trying to set custom Layouts so that I can plot parts of a wall 1-1.
I have never set a custom paper size before and unfortunately, I seem to be having a few problems. :?
The wall sizes differ, one is 234mm wide x 2500mm long.

Can anyone help at all please.

Many thanks.

Primal.

I know I gave a pretty comprehensive answer to this problem a little while back, just can't remember the thread. Do a search, and I will too, see if I can find it for you. :D

Sorry mate, couldn't find it. Wait for Tiger to get back from her meeting, and we'll both have a go. She remembers it.

Alan, did you mean the one below ?
It's the question you asked calling for help on the FAQ relating to page setups. It has a number of solutions on there:

If not, please disregards this message.

What plotter are you using?

Creating custom layout different for different plotters.
We use a HP Designjet 1050C

To create a custom page setup I select Properties next to printer/plotter, custom properties, and on the Paper size tab select more sizes where I can create 5 custom sizes.

If you use a different plotter I'm sure the setup will differ.

Thank you all.

I will let you know how I get on. :D

Either I'm confused, or we all are. I was under the impression Primal wanted to set up a layout, so he could plot from that at 1:1. You know, viewports and all that. But I may be way off beam. If so, sorry Primal.

Blue, thanks for that link. Tiger and I are about to get stuck into that one again very shortly, so that is a good reminder to me.

"FAQ on sheet sets"

Sorry about that last bit. I'm having trouble getting the search to work on FAQ, so I tried something new. And it works, so I'll leave it there.

No, you are correct Alan, that is what I wanted!! :)

I need to create a Layout so that when I put my Wall Section in, I can do it so that its 1 - 1.
Its going to be quite long, thats all.

Thank you.

Primal.

Okay, mate, just to shortcut the process.

Create a layout (I'm assuming you know how to do that). :)
Bring in the block of your standard drawing sheet (full size 1:1). Bottom left corner to 0,0.
then create a viewport inside the drawing area of your standard drawing sheet. View > Viewports > 1 Viewport.
Then click on the viewport and get the properties dialogue window up, There enter the scales you want.....standard scale and linetype scale. e.g. for 1:100 use linetype scale of 0.1.
Then exit the properties dialogue window.
Double click inside the viewport to activate it.
Then pan away to get that part of the drawing you want to show up in the viewport.
DO NOT ZOOM IN OR OUT AT THIS STAGE.
When you have that part of the drawing you want to plot, then pick the viewport again, and this time go to display locked...yes.

Now you can plot the whole layout at 1:1.

If the section of your drawing doesn't fit the viewport, you will have to change the viewport scale and go through the whole procedure again.

I'll try and get Tiger to help me find that other thread. Hope that helps, mate. :P
