I have recently made the jump from Acad 2002 to 2008.
I have found that when positioning a radius dimension inside a rad, an arc is drawn in and the dimension attaches to it.
Dopes anyone know how to override this?

type DIMSTYLE to bring up the Dimension Style Manager. click the style your using and press the Modify button. go to the Symbols & Arrows tab, and under the Arc Length Symbol choose None. That should do it for ya.

Are you sure you are not using the arc lenght (_dimarc) instead _dimradius?
I know it sounds stupid, but I can't reproduce your problem on my PC and so that doubt comes to my mind (I think _dimarc doesn't exist in 2002 v.)

Well I have duplicated it, but it was while using the radius dimension with out an arc associated with it and rotating a radius dimension past the end of the arc. Just go into Properties and turn the Extension line off, this will relocate your dimension back onto the arc.

No option to turn extension off, made length zero but no effect.

I don't seem to have the same options in properties that you have.
This is Acad 2008.

That is odd, mine is 2008 as well, and as you can see, I have that in my properties. Try turning it off in _DIMSTYLE by making New dimension for Radius.

I am not getting the option to suppress ext line 1, it's greyed out.

Tried setting _DIMSE1 to ON in your drawing and then Update dimension and select your dimension, hit Enter.

Well, that got rid of the arc, unfortunately the dimension is still in the same place.

Where do you want the dimension?

I wanted it attached to the radius I was measuring, it's still pointing to where the extension arc used to be.

Select it and move the grip on the arrow. Mine snapped to the arc when I did update. Seems like something is wrong with your system, you should have had all those options I mentioned before.
Do you have all the latest Updates and Service Pack (http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/index?siteID=123112&id=2334435&linkID=9240618)?

Loaded it just a couple of weeks ago, it's on servicepak 0, I see there are a few updates avalable, I will try that out next.
Thanks a lot for your help.
Just checked, one of the fixes in servicepak 1 is specifically for this problem, never would have thought 2008 would be out of date befor I even loaded it!

Download & install Service Pack 1.
It mostly fixes it.
It does give you the ability to turn off the extension line and the arrowhead jumps to touching the actual geomerty arc.
Mostly? It still acts wierd, you may have to manully move the dim around to get it to look right.
Typical AutoDesk.
