ProgeCAD 2008 Smart! is available for download at:
http://www.caddit.net/progecad/smart.php (http://www.caddit.net/progecad/smart.php)

This is the long-awaited free successor to progeCAD LT 2006. Smart! is fully functional and powerful DWG based CAD software that is absolutely free for personal use only. There are no rivals on the world free CAD scene in terms of AutoCAD compatibility and functionality. Smart! derives it's features directly from the professional codebase of progeCAD. The software is easy to learn and simple to install. Some significant features of progeCAD include:

- AutoCADĀ® 2007/2008 DWG files completely compatible
- Express tools availability
- PDF format printing
- Photorealistic Rendering
- True Colour Support
- eTransmit
- Asiatic fonts support
- ALE blocks management module with more than 10,000 blocks (separate download)
- incredible enhancement of the services performances

Only some of these excellent features are included in Smart! The software may be freely downloaded by anyone. It may be made available on websites and reviewed on the Media without any limitation. Commercial or business use of any kind, however, is prohibited. No commercial license is granted for Smart!

Ethical Business - Like its predecessor progeCAD LT 2006 the software is related to a charitable initiative in favour of Doctors Without Borders for the Darfur, a western Sudan region in Africa, that endures a humanitarian crisis without precedents. All of the users that want to help us in the initiative can carry out some donations. Donations do not limit in any way the free usage of the software.

Guys, let's leave this be for now. Sure it might seem like spam but many here have asked about this software for a while and this post is what was asked for. I say let's give them a chance to post this for all to see.

I tried too: "Sorry, we are not accepting payments from your region at this time."
That's what I call "free software" :-)

After reading several other posts, I thought that it would have been timely, relevant and appreciated. Should it have been placed in "Useful Links (http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=29)" or does CADTutor object to posting any *relevant* press releases? I hate spam too, so I am trying to understand what the real issue was. Especially when it's free. And judging by the number of downloads since then, someone must want it here

Also, I must admit that for about 12 hours or so after the 4th there was some SQL issue but it's OK since then...

Well, I downloaded it and I give it a 4 out of 5. It does what it is supposed to do. Is it a replacement for AutoCAD? No, I just don't feel the same with it as I do with Acad. Will it work for those you cannot get to Acad? Sure it will.

Well, let me be far and say that "I" would not call it a replacement for Acad. I would call myself a more seasoned user. I have been using it since 1989 in some form or another. But, a new user would probably not see the differences that I "felt". It seemed to work very well in the areas where I tested it. It is a very good option for those needing a nice DWG editor.
