Bit of a newbie here....

We have a client who doesn't have Autocad but uses Rhino to view and do minor editing on occasional 2d elevation views generated on our end by Autocad.

We have recently been generating drawings that use vertical text as part of these elevation views.

Unfortunately, when he opens drawings that have vertical text, the vertical orientation is lost and the text repositions as horizontal.

Any advice on how do address this?

Also: The vertical text is always: .shx

Obviously I would prefer to leave the text intact if possible but if not, can anyone steer me to a practical way to explode shx text?

Thanks for any and all advice

O.K, I figured out how to explode my vertical text:

I was able to use express tools > Explode text

However....

For those of us using 2004 we have to make a change to the WMFBKGND variable, setting it to "ON"

(I found this out on the Autodesk forum after getting frustrated trying to use to the Text > Explode feature)

if you don't do this step, your text will not explode correctly

I'm still curious as to whether or not I can import vertical text and keep it as text as per my question above.

Sincerely,

AJS
