hay guys i need help tracing an image into lineart. I prefer for the whole thing to be drawn with lines and arcs. I am really hoping the tracing can be as close to the image as possible. I dont have an original of it only a picture of it.
Here it goes:

it's kinda complicated but i dont know, let's see. thanks in advance!

What will you use the tracing for? I mean, does it really have to be done in Autocad? This would be pretty easy to do in Photoshop with a graphic tablet.
It can be done in Acad as long as you have plenty of time and patience. :bloodshot:

This is using a raster to vector program...
It creates a dxf file so you can just dxf-in the file..
You need to play with the export settings....
I cant upload the dwg or dxf as they are to big..for here
so here is the link for the free-program so you can do it yourself...

The lines are pretty clunky polylines so the linework shown has been splined

Sometimes those programms thet convert raster images to vectors are a good help.
In this case I think that it will not save you a lot of time because for a clean and precise result you will have to work on the result pretty much.
It can be done, but as Cad64 have pointed out, you need a lot of time and patience

It would take a while but I could probably do it using my digitizer. Because there are really no straight lines I'd have to use very small polyline segments.

If it is for a tatoo why you want it drawed in Autocad. Any way it will be then tatooed by hand and people that makes tatoos should be skilled enough to trace your image by hand and get a good result.
Or there is a CNC for tatoos? ;)

Yeah i know what you're saying but if i give them that blurred picture then a lot of it is up to their interpretation of what the fuzzy picture looks like whereas i would rather trace it myself and give them a perfectly vectorized outline of what i want. in turn they can use a thinner needle and go wild on the detail.
i'll show you my last tattoo, it wasnt a big thing or nothin but it came out with a lot of detail.

ive had a few tats in my time and all of them are more detailed than the ones you have done.. as soon as I saw it I thought thats what you wanted done.
seriously if the guy your getting to tattoo you cant trace that with accurate lines I would go somewhere else mate.. its allot of effort to go to and to be honest the time it takes to do it in CAD will be around the same time it takes to get it done on skin.
get some tracing paper and do it yourself dont waste your time in cad.

Me too, on all counts (although I have tats that are less detailed, but apart from that my response would have been identical).

he can trace it but i dont want him to. what is the saying, you want something done right, then do it yourself.
i ended up tracing it myself on acad, printed it and had it inked on me. i havent updated the thread but it came out nice as hell. its fully healed now so i will take pics and you them.
