Adding new materials to a .dwg

I Just upgraded from ADT 2002 to 2005 and can't for the life of me figure out how to Access materials that I drag and Drop from my content browser to an open file. The command line reads "Defining material ...." but the material doesn't appear in my Style Manger under material definitions. The only way Ive been able to successfully add new materials to a file is to open another .dwg with materials already in it (in Style Manager ) and copy them. How do I get materials from my Content browsers Render Material catalog to the style manger in my dwg? I know this is a simple problem. Please help.

I can get the material onto a pallete but it still doesn't show up in the style manager. Is there a way to apply the material directly from the pallate?
