I am running autocad mep 2008. I received a drawing .I’m not sure what version it came in but it looked like it was created in some form of autocad. I copied out the blocks into a template and I no longer have the file. My question is about the blocks that came with the file. I cant explode them without the block disappearing or without all the attributes showing up all messed up…I just want it to explode looking the way it does and it al be regular text. I have tried the commands I know. Regular explode (of course that didn’t work). The burst command. Whatever I have tried hasn’t worked. Does anyone know anything else I could try?

BURST should work.
Can you post the drawing so we can take a look?

Ok, there are other attributes in these blocks with their visibility set to invisible. So when you Burst the block, they become visible. Just erase the ones you don't want and you're all set.
I didn't have any problems with the blocks disappearing?
Here I have attached the file with my results. Is this what you are looking for?:

Thats what I want but what I was trying to avoid was having to erase all the invisible text that appears. With other blocks (for the most part) those attributes that are invisible stay gone. And all your left with is what you see. Which is what I wanted. Having to go around and erase all the attributes that appear is a process when you have a lot of them. The drawing I posted had just a few. A typical drawing when this happens could have hundreds of these types of blocks...

Ok, try this:
1. Use BEDIT to open the block in the dynamic block editor
2. Delete all the attribute text that you don't want
3. Close the block editor and Save on Exit
4. Use the INSERT command to insert the block you just edited
5. Type BATTMAN at the command prompt to open the Block Attribute Manager
6. Click the "Select Block" button and select the block you just inserted
7. Click the "Sync" button, then click OK to close the manager
8. Now use the BURST command

Thanks. I will definitely try that. At work tomorrow. My express tools are screwed up at here at home. Im getting all question marks under the pull down and when I type it, it says unknown command..I think it had something to do with the install from what I remember when I researched it. I just havent done it yet because i dont have the disk handy.. Thanks

I've had a similar problem and that worked good. Thanks. Do you know why this happens only sometimes? Does it have to do with how they are created? Or thee version or program the blocks are coming from?

Kevin,
Here's a note to go along with my previous post:
After you run through the procedure and Burst the blocks, you will notice the text get slightly larger. This is because the attribute text height was changed in the Attribute Editor after the block was created.
If you want the text to remain the same size that it is right now, you will need to reduce the text height, while in Bedit mode, to 3/4".

I did noticethat if the block is the drawing several times and the attributes are rotated a certain way, when you do use the sinc command it rotates all the attributes. Its nice the burst works but the fact that it rotates the attributes is a pain in certain situations.

I am always loathe to share any information pertaining to exploding blocks.
Blocks are blocks for a reason, in similar ways that dimensions are dimensions for a reason and hatches are hatches for a reason.
In my opinion, none of the above should be exploded.
