Hi All

I am trying to put a fillet of 3.5mm around the edge of the attached model, but keep getting the following message

'Modeling Operation Error:
Could not find acceptable sequence of capping faces to trim blend face.
Failed to perform blend.
Failure while filleting'.

Am I missing something?

Mike

Ideally, AutoCAD likes edge fillets smaller than the smallest underlying radius. I modified your drawing to increase the rads at the square notch. A 3.5 edge would then work.

Thanks Seant

As I can't change the radius I tried a fillet of 3.4. Still no joy. Did you perform the fillet using the 'Chain' function around the whole model? If not how did you achieve the finished result?

the 3.5mm fillet radius is too large for the corner i revclouded in red on the attached drawing--that is your problem area...(oops i have the cloud over the wrong corner so i reloaded the cad file)...

Unfortunately, the Chain option will only work if each edge segment meet tangentially (all adjacent edges are tangent). The rectangle in the attached file could make use of the Chain option; your shape must have each edge selected individually. A PITA to be sure, but not that bad.

Thanks guys

But both files are coming up as incompatable versions??

Thanks for the help guys.

I have looked at your files and experimented a bit more. It seems that i can fillet upto 1.6 - 2mm after that i get the same error message. This is with selecting each edge individually i.e. not using the Chain command. Surely I should be able to fillet upto the smallest radius on the model!!
