I'm ordering AutoCad 2008 tomorrow, so while I wait I'm spending alot of time thinking.
Here's my scenario.........
I have approx. 150 different site plans that various consultants have drawn, and submitted to our company.
I have spent most of the day coming up with our own specific layer assignments. (At least 10 layers for each discipline).
So my question of the day is, how would you all approach this? You have a drawing with 10 different layers, and you want to change each layer to match your own standards. I fully expect to open each drawing induvidually to change layers. Beyond that, does anyone have any hints/tips on how to best get all these layers changed over?

Hi,

Full AutoCAD has a fine tool for just this! It's called CAD Standards Manager. With it you can create for Instance Layer Translation files for all of your consultants and then treat the files in one go! You have control over linetypes, textstyles etc. Here's just a glimpse of the tool inside AutoCAD:
