How do I increase the amount of memory AutoCAD uses? My model is getting pretty bulky and AutoCAD is crashing pretty frequently now. I think an increase in the available memory will do the trick. (I already have the 3GB switch activated).
version: AutoCAD 2008

Possibly...load it up and before it normally crashes, type the STATUS command. Lists all the mem. uses.
Not sure if this is still in 2008. Is it XP or VISTA ?
Someone else will be along soon.........

EDIT try this ?

sorry, but the 32-bit o/s will only allow a single app. to address up to a maxumim of 2 GB of ram anyway...since you're already at 3, adding more will not help...

What size is your swap file (virtual Memory)?

I was finding that mine was crashing a lot when I switched between layout tabs (as it approached 2gig) so I took off layout & model cacheing (in options/system/layout regen options) which has largely fixed the prob... swap file size made no difference.

The OS is WinXP Media, and the paging file size is 2G.
I will try turning off layout and model caching and see if that works. Will be a while before I can say for certain that crashing ocurs less frequently.
Thanks for help everyone.
