what do you guys think of this laptop for acad 2007 or 2008 3D?. Possibly 3dmax too. i'm going to buy it soon (i've already looked at other brands and models and this seems the best for its price)

I've run 2007 on a similar spec machine... 1.5gig ram & 80gig HD... no probs, esp as with vista you can add a usb flash drive to speed up swap file access.

yeh the g card NVIDIA Geforce, is perfect for what you want to do, i work on high detailed valve/actutator/wellhead systems drawings and mines pretty much identical to yours and it runs fine. reffer to your products prefferd system requirements if you in doubt :)

I'm using an Acer 5520-5912 (http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=7812646). Don't know if you can get it in Malta, but it works great with AutoCAD 2008. It comes with a dual core 1.9 GHz processor and 2G of RAM and it's only a problem in 3D if you pan or zoom. It gets a little choppy then. I'm going to upgrade it to the full 4G sometime soon.

we do get acer but i got some negative comments about them.
The computer store didn't have the model i specified so i went for one with slightly better specs

what do you think about AMD? better or worse than Intel for ACAD?

I wouldn't be the man to ask. A processor is a processor to me when it comes to manufacturers.

That's why it pays to know how to work on computers yourself. I don't like to rely on customer no-service at any company I deal with.
