I have yet another problem with SketchUp  I'm really not very good on it yet LOL.
Anyways I tried to import my AutoCAD plan and from a top camera view it looks fine but then as soon as i move the camera view it goes all wierd and its really tall. Is there any way to fix it?? I want to start creating my model from the plan.

This is the first view from the top camera view:

But this is the 2nd pic where it all goes wrong lol:

That's because your ACAD file is a 3D file and not 2D. Flatten your file ACAD before you bring it into SU. Type "Flatten" in ACAD and if you have the express tolls installed you will be able to flatten it into a nice 2D image.

Thanks, i tried the flatten but it didnt work and i dont have the express tools installed. What i dont understand is why its in 3D because i cant even work in 3D on AutoCAD lol. I created the whole plan in 2D.

Select your lines in autocad and see if they have a thichness. If so change this to "0". You might have to do a few at a time to get them all. Send me the file and I'll take a look.

Thanks for helping- i've just managed to get it sorted. I went on my other laptop because it has AutoCAD 2008 on it rather then the 2006 on here and it managed to flatten it all nicely and open up properly in SketchUp. Thanks again. :D
