Error is faced in all versions of Autocad ; 2004, 2006, 2008. When one presses the line or circle command by using shortcut keys or icons or pull down menus; we get a dialog box showing a junk message and only thing legible is "fd-zhou@163.com". After some time line and circle command ceases to work. PLEASE help as this is happening in all 40 computers. I re-installed Autocad but the problem remains. error file attached

1. Do you get any error message in the command line?
2. Have any 3rd party add-ons been installed with AutoCAD?
Cheers

If it was me I'd be considering wiping AutoCAD off my machine (& any add-on's), running a full virus scan, then re-installing :(

on thinking more, it looks like one of those viruses where they ask you for payment to "release" your data, only this time they are rendering Acad unusable ~ why else would they have an email address showing ?

I have Symantec Antivirus installed in our systems

Symantec doesn't have a particularly good reputation amongst CAD users.
And just because you have anti-virus software installed doesn't mean you can't get infected.
Have you tried tracing that email address back to see where it originated ? That may tell you a lot

A quick google of 163.com returns thats 163.com is a chinese news website.
There is no results for the full email address.

Could you possibly have an application loaded which might change the commands to the chinese version commands?
Obviously line in the english version is different from line in the chinese version of AutoCAD

doesn't underscoreCommand (_LINE) instigate the english command? Not a long term fix but may give a clue as to whether this is a malicious attack or just a command redefine.

You might want to look through the McAfee website. I found something that might point you in the right direction ..

You might want to start your computer up in a safemode and check through your .lsp file or delete it and all others similar to it and start it again .. its a PITA, but, it might clear up your issue.

I was in IT for ~9 years taking care of computers for government, financial institutions, military and huge engineering firms. I specialized in laptops, but was certified in every level of the IT computing environment. If there was a problem in hardware, software, operating systems or in a network, I was the guy to fix it all.

Must admit, I didn't try searching for his exact problem, but he was told it sounded like a virus or adware/spyware. Good job on showing him the exact solution to his problem.
